Queer Inclusion, Equity, Health, & Rights
The overarching objective of the QuIEHR Working Group is to leverage members’ expertise in SGM health research, practice, education, and advocacy to advance health and social equity for SGM populations in Philadelphia and in urban contexts globally. The three pillars of QuIEHR’s work are as follows:
1) Research and Education about SGM Health through the implementation of collaborative projects across DSPH and the creative dissemination of findings via the co-sponsoring of events by internal and invited external scholars and practitioners.
2) Advocacy for SGM Rights in collaboration with entities such as the DSPH Office of Global Health and other partner organizations by providing support to efforts that advance the autonomy of SGM individuals and contribute to their opportunities to achieve health and to participate in cultural life.
3) Support of Public Health in Practice by expanding students’ connections to external partner organizations and financially compensating them for advancing SGM health in Philadelphia and beyond through engagement in experiential learning opportunities.
