Aging with Pride: Health, Resilience, and Equity for Older Queer Philadelphians
April 30, 2026
The Queer Inclusion, Equity, Health, & Rights (QuIEHR) working group comprises Drexel community members and community partners engaging in research, education, training, practice, and advocacy related to public health, medicine, human rights, and social inclusion for sexual and gender minority (SGM) populations. Please join the QuIEHR Working Group at the Dornsife School of Public Health (Nesbitt Hall; 3215 Market St, Philadelphia, PA 19104) on Thursday, April 30, 2026 (10 am - 2 pm) for the 4th Annual Symposium for Sexual and Gender Minority Health.
The hybrid symposium entitled Aging with Pride: Health, Resilience, and Equity for Older Queer Philadelphians will focus on the lives, challenges, and strengths of older queer adults in Philadelphia. As one of the most diverse and resilient communities in the city, older LGBTQ+ Philadelphians have lived through pivotal moments in history, from the AIDS epidemic to advances in LGBTQ+ rights, yet continue to face unique health and social inequities. This symposium will bring together researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and community members to discuss pressing issues including access to affirming healthcare, housing and economic security, social isolation and loneliness, and the importance of intersectional approaches that recognize the diverse identities and experiences of older queer adults. Together, we will reflect on the past, honor resilience, and chart a path toward a healthier, more equitable future for LGBTQ+ elders in Philadelphia.
The symposium is open to the Drexel community and the Public. Registration is required. Lunch will be provided for in-person attendees.
In-person attendees who would like to reserve a lunch should register no later than Tuesday, April 28th. Zoom registration will remain open until the start of the symposium.
